| The Administrative Services
Division is the support arm of the Ministry of Labour and Co-operatives.
It provides administrative management services to both the technical/professional
staff as well as the various divisions within the Ministry. |

The Division
is comprised of seven (7) units. The Units are: |

Coordinate and direct all administrative
functions of the Ministry at Riverside Plaza and its sub-units. This unit
together with the NMTS is also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep
of all major plant and equipment at Riverside Plaza. The Personnel Unit ensures
that Ministry staff is maintained at adequate levels at all times.
The major processes comprise of the management of salary, training,
leave and pension issues. Performance appraisals also constitute a major
function of this unit resulting from the new Performance Management System,
mandated by the Ministry of Public Administration and Information. The Records Unit is responsible
for creating, implementing and maintaining proper systems and procedures
for the control and flow of Records/Information to the appropriate action
officers. The Registry manages the correspondence
of the Ministry, to include all aspects of mail receipt and dispatch,
as well as the sorting and distribution of incoming and outgoing correspondence. The Internal Audit Unit ensures
that all financial guidelines and instructions are adhered to by all Divisions
within the Ministry. In addition, it provides the Accounting officers
with the tools for special investigations, proper accountability, and
value for service provided by the Ministry. This unit reports directly
to the Permanent Secretary. The Accounting Unit is responsible
for the functions relating to payment of salaries, goods, and services.
These responsibilities include maintaining the General Ledger for the
Ministry, preparing applications to the Budget Division for release of
funds under provisions made for recurrent and capital expenditures, distributing
funds for various goods and services including the refurbishing and repairs
to equipment and buildings. The unit maintains and stores all records
relating to these financial transactions. Office Management is responsible
for promoting and facilitating the smooth operations of the various Divisions,
Departments, and Units of the Ministry by providing and maintaining furniture
and equipment; and the provisions of stationery, supplies, newspapers
and other basic services. It also coordinates and oversees office functions
such as Courier Services, Maids, Telephone Operators, Motor Vehicle Drivers
and Office Attendants.
