The
Research and Planning Division undertakes socio-economic research, planning
and implementation of projects in the areas of:
-
Labour
Relations
-
Occupational
health and safety
-
Manpower
and employment, including research on the informal sector
-
Development
of the co-operative sector and friendly societies
-
International
labour matters
-
Labour
market information
The
division also plays a key role in the:
-
preparation
and revision of the Ministry's strategic plan
-
preparation
of it's annual budget, particularly the public sector investment programme
-
evaluation
and implementation of projects designed to improve the delivery of
Ministry services both in anticipation of and in response to the needs
of its clients and stakeholders
The
division is divided into 4 units, Labour research unit l and ll, Co-operative
unit and a Statistical unit. The Statistical unit is responsible for the collection,
collation, and processing of statistical data related to the following
items:

and training data

Occupation
and Industry related data
-
Trade
disputes
-
Classification
of work stoppages
-
Retrenchment
by sector
-
Industrial
injuries

Overseas
employment
