Workplace Guidelines consequent on the re-opening of schools

Reference is made to the Media Release issued by the Ministry of Labour titled “Workplace Guidelines on the Closure of Schools” dated March 15, 2020. In dealing with the issue of minimising the spread of COVID-19 at the workplace at that time, you would recall that employers and employees in the Public Service, State Enterprises/Private Sector were advised, inter alia, to not have children allowed onto workplaces/facilities, inclusive of company vehicles or compounds as they too needed to be protected.

In light of the announcements at a Media Conference on March 26, 2022, by the Honourable Keith Rowley, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago stating that from April 4, 2022, all restrictions will be removed save for the wearing of a mask appropriately, handwashing and/or sanitizing and engaging in physical distance; and by the Ministry of Education on Monday March 28, 2022 on the return to physical school for all students for the third term of 2021/2022 which commenced on April 19, 2022, and further to the discussions held with the Minister of Health, Ministries, Departments, Divisions within the Tobago House of Assembly, State Enterprises and Statutory Bodies subject to the Statutory Authorities Act, Chapter 24:01 are advised that there will no longer be any restrictions to children being allowed on workplaces and facilities. 

Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Departments and the Chief Administrator are advised to bring this memorandum to the attention of your Staff and to the State Enterprises and Statutory Bodies under your purview.
