Media Release - Ministry of Labour and MIC Institute of Technology sign Memorandum of Agreement that will see greater facilitation for TVET candidates

 

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago - Monday 13 February, 2023

 

The Ministry of Labour (MOL) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the MIC Institute of Technology (MIC-IT) for the On-The-Job Training Programme (OJTP) to facilitate TVET candidates. This signing took place at the Ministry of Labour’s Head Office located at Tower C, International Waterfront Centre, Port of Spain on January 23, 2023.

In keeping with the MOA, the MIC-IT will collaborate with the OJT Division to ensure the diverse placement of Trainees, specifically from the MIC-IT’s Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Programme and the National Skills Development (NSDP) Journeyman Programme, to complete their pre-requisite two (2) year Industry attachment to complete their programmes and receive their completion certificates.

 

Ms. Natalie Willis, Permanent Secretary (Ag.) expressed that the Ministry looked forward to the collaboration which will facilitate placement opportunities for students of the MIC-IT for the NSDP Journeyman and EIT Programmes, to facilitate their practical training in the Manufacturing, Engineering and Energy Sectors.

Mr. Anil Ramnarine, CEO MIC-IT expressed heartfelt gratitude at the signing stating, “on behalf of our Trainees, we say ‘thank you’. This MOA certainly cements MIC-IT’s obligation to our students with regard to placement opportunities and will benefit them tremendously.”
