International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Global Campaign for Ratification of Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (No. 190)

International Labour Organizations ILO Global Campaign for Ratification of Violence and Harassment Convention 2019 No. 190

The International Labour Organization (ILO) has launched a global campaign to promote the ratification and implementation of the Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (C190) that was adopted in 2019, and came into force on 25 June 2021.

The Conventions recognizes the right of everyone to a world of work free from violence and harassment, including gender-based violence and harassment. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the issue further, with many forms of violence and harassment being reported, particularly against women and vulnerable groups.

Therefore, the ILO hosted a webinar on October 26, 2021 to raise awareness on the significance of C190 and Recommendation No. 206 among Caribbean tripartite constituents since it has not yet been ratified by any Member State in the Caribbean, although constituents in the region played an important role in the Convention’s development.
